SITAM: Analysis of quantitative household survey (Malawi)

The SAIRLA-funded IIED-led research project ‘Sustainable Intensification: Trade-offs for Agricultural Management’ (SITAM) seeks to understand how smallholder farmers in Africa manage the trade-offs between production, sustainability, environmental and socio-economic factors. This report provides a quantitative assessment of some key farming and livelihoods dimensions of farming households in the Mwansambo EPA Research Site in Malawi. These include the demographic characteristics of respondents, land resources and production assets, livestock and poultry products, farming practices and crops, income, credit and their application and the state of food security and insecurity.
